About us
Cornwall Junior Choir has been going since January 2001 and was set up through a partnership between Cornwall Music Service and Truro Cathedral. It is the first of its kind in the country.
There are now about 50 of us aged 6-15 and we come from all over Cornwall

We sing a wide variety of music - from traditional Christmas carols like Away in a Manger and the Star Carol to "songs from the shows" such as I Got Rhythm and Only You.

The Truro Cathedral project is part of a nationwide outreach scheme organised by the CSA and supported by MDS. It is a major strand of the Music Manifesto's National Singing Programme.

Come along
You're welcome to come along any Saturday in term-time from 10.00 - 11.30 at Truro Cathedral. We meet just inside the main west door.

Choir secretary Julia Carter and musical directors Nigel Hayward and Angela Renshaw will be there to welcome you and answer any questions about the choir's organisation and activities.

The 50-strong mixed choir always welcomes new members. Anyone aged from 6 to 14 years can join; membership is free. Young singers come from all over Cornwall every week for expert tuition under the musical directors.

We sing a wide variety of classical and modern music and give regular performances at venues round the county.

Join us
Membership is free. We pay for all rehearsals, parties and transport to concerts.

The only thing we ask you to buy is a Cornish gold fisherman-style choir smock (left) costing £10. We wear these for every performance.

Meet us
Our joint conductors are Nigel Hayward and Angela Renshaw, who are both experienced choir trainers. Nigel Hayward is Musical Director to The Hellens Singers - a recently formed girls choir in Hereford. Angela Renshaw has recently taken over from Christopher Gray and works for the county music service/Truro Cathedral outreach projects for both the primary and secondary sectors; she has recently been appointed Director of the Holman Climax male Choir.
